Artist Residencies and Grant Opportunities with Deadlines in July

Summer can be a time of reflection and easy living. But your practice never sleeps. Here are some residencies to apply for with July and August deadlines so you can plan ahead for the Fall months!
The Victoria & Albert Museum Research Institute’s Embedded Residency
London, United Kingdom
Deadline: July 7, 2017
Open to artists internationally, the residency will embed data practitioners part time for one year starting in October 2017. The resident will be charged to make data-focused works that propose new points of entry with the museum’s collections. The residency comes with a £12,000 stipend and production budget of £2,000.

No Longer Empty Curatorial Lab
Jamaica, Queens
Deadline: July 14, 2017
The NLE Curatorial Lab is a professional development program for emerging curators.  NLE curates site-responsive and community centered exhibitions in unique spaces. This lab includes a curriculum of critical readings, guest speakers, site research and will culminate in a collectively curated exhibition at York College Fine Arts Gallery.

BRIC Workspace Residency
Brooklyn, New York
Deadline: July 15, 2017
Brooklyn-based artists are invited to apply to BRIC’s Workspace Residency. The program assists emerging and mid-career artists with rent-free workspace, a stipend for materials, and opportunities for studio visits, critical feedback and exposure.

Crystal Ruth Bell Residency
Beijing, China
Deadline: July 17, 2017
Artists are invited to submit their work meditating on the theme of “care.” Chosen residents will work in Beijing from November to December. The residency comes with a $1,000 stipend and accounts for living and studio space, and financial support for travel and visa expenses.

National Parks Arts Foundation Poetry Residency
Gettysburg National Military Park
Deadline: July 20, 2017
The National Parks Arts Foundation has partnered with the Poetry Foundation to create the first ever poetry in the Parks. Artists will receive $1000 and paid public appearances and engagements in 3 different areas including Washington, DC and Chicago. The residency comes with lodging, and is open to couples.

Hadley Creatives
Louisville, Kentucky
Deadline: August 4, 2017
Creative Capital is excited to announce a new partnership with the Community Foundation of Louisville to form a program that will support the working artists in the greater Louisville area. The program, Hadley Creatives, is a 6-month learning and engagement experience for local artists who are at a pivotal point in their careers. Through a competitive application process, 15 artists who demonstrate potential and readiness to pursue a career as a working artist will be selected for this professional development program.

Public Theater Emerging Writers Group
Deadline: Aug 31, 2017

Part of the Public Theater’s Public Writers Initiative, the Emerging Writers Group provides key support and resources for writers at every stage of their careers. Writers receive a 2-year fellowship at the Public which comes with a stipend of $7500. The program also stages readings of works by the writers, and provides career development advice from established writers.

The Main Museum
Los Angeles, California
Deadline: Oct 2, 2017
Los Angeles-based artists are welcome to apply to this residency in the city’s newest downtown art space, The Main Museum! Depending on the needs of the artist, residencies can last from 3 to 9 months, and come with a $1,000 honorarium. The program allows for each artist to build relationships with the museum’s surrounding community.
