Creative Capital announced today that it is the recipient of a $150,000 grant from John S. and James L. Knight Foundation. The support will fund weekend workshops for artists who have received funding through the Knight Arts Challenge in Akron, Detroit, Miami, and St. Paul. The workshops will be held from April to June in partnership with local arts organizations as part of Creative Capital’s ongoing commitment to provide career development resources to artists around the country. The offerings will also serve as spaces for networking and community-building among participants of the Knight Arts Challenge.
Designed as an initiative for funding the best ideas for engaging and enriching communities through the arts, the Knight Arts Challenge aligns with Creative Capital’s mission of supporting sustainable artistic practices nationwide. “This funding from Knight Foundation will foster deeper connections with thought leaders and organizations already doing incredible work,” said Creative Capital President & Executive Director Suzy Delvalle. “These workshops are designed for artists to acquire techniques and build relationships that will further their success in their communities.” Integrating strategic planning, business management, communications, fundraising, and marketing, the content offered through these courses serves as a guide for managing thriving, fulfilling careers.

Creative Capital offers top-flight training in the skill sets our artists need,” said Victoria Rogers, VP/Arts at Knight Foundation. “We hope these workshops help them further develop their careers, so that they can continue to produce works that engage and delight us all.”

Workshops are open to Knight Arts Challenge winners in each city. Eligible artists will be contacted and provided registration details.
