Millay Colony
Austerlitz, NY

The Millay Colony was founded by poet/activist Edna St. Vincent Millay in 1973 in the Berkshire foothills, and it has been a valuable asset to artists ever since. Artists will live and work on their seven-acre property, receive free meals and a lot of communal and work spaces. Millay Colony also accommodates for collaborations and virtual residencies for those who can’t spend prolonged time away from home.

Vermont Studio Center
Johnson, Vermont
Deadline: Oct 1, 2017
The Vermont Studio Center has twenty five fellowships open to both artists and writers living anywhere in the world. The fellowships cover the full cost of attendance, and come with a stipend for travel and materials.

Can Serrat Residency for Music and Sound Artists
Barcelona, Spain
Deadline: Oct 10, 2017
This international residency is open to musical groups of up to 5 participants, solo musicians or sound artists. It comes with a private room, food, and access to sound gear and other technical gear. One chosen artist will receive a full grant and a second will receive a partial grant.

Triple Canopy Call for Proposals
Deadline: Oct 18, 2017
Triple Canopy publishes works of literature, art and conversations on a unique digital platform. They are accepting proposals for new work to be developed in collaboration with their editors on the the theme of resentment. Commission recipients receive a $2,000 honorarium, 8-12 months of support and more!

National Parks Arts Residency
Haleakala National Park, Maui, Hawaii
Deadline: Oct 20, 2017
Work among lunar landscapes, rainforests, and waterfalls, all along Maui’s legendary coastline. The National Parks Arts Foundation offers a residency that comes with a $2,000 stipend, housing inside the park, and a venue to present work to the public. It’s impossible to guarantee inspiration, but this residency may come close!

Experimental Studio
Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, United Kingdom
Deadline: Oct 31, 2017
This four-week residency is open to international artists and comes with a stipend of £2000. It will take place during the Great Exhibition of the North, which examines how North England’s art and culture have shaped the future.

Megalo Print Studio + Gallery
Canberra, Australia
Deadline: Oct 31, 2017
The Megalo Residency is part of the printmaking shop based in Canberra, Australia. International printmaking artists are welcome to apply. The residency comes with a living allowance of AU$2000, a materials stipend, travel allowance and studio access.

The Main Museum
Los Angeles, California
Deadline: Oct 2, 2017
Los Angeles-based artists are welcome to apply to this residency in the city’s newest downtown art space, The Main Museum! Depending on the needs of the artist, residencies can last from 3 to 9 months, and come with a $1,000 honorarium. The program allows for each artist to build relationships with the museum’s surrounding community.

Foundation for Contemporary Arts Emergency Grant
Deadline: Reviewed on an ongoing basis monthly
Do you have an unanticipated opportunity to present your work? Did you incur an unexpected expense that you didn’t budget for? The Foundation for Contemporary Arts offers Emergency Grants between $200 and $2,500 for visual and performing artists. They review applications once a month, so you can quickly take advantage of momentum or solve any budget errors!
