Earlier this month, we were so thrilled to celebrate our fifth year working in partnership with the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council (LMCC) to present the Artists Summer Institute (ASI), a five-day professional development intensive for 55 New York City artists. This year we convened from August 6-10 at 1 Liberty Plaza, home to LMCC’s Workspace Program. As usual, we had an incredible group, and we celebrated our anniversary with a special dessert for lunch on Saturday.

The 55 participating artists were selected to attend the workshop free of charge through a lottery process from a pool of nearly 500 applicants. The diverse group hailed from all five New York City boroughs and included visual artists, filmmakers, media artists, writers, performing artists and other multidisciplinary creators.

Designed to help artists build a path to greater sustainability and self-sufficiency, ASI combines the best of Creative Capital’s Professional Development Program (PDP) and LMCC’s Basic Finance for Artists program to provide a comprehensive range of training, tools and resources for working artists.
